ACL Açaí
WITH THE GROWING EXPANSION OF AÇAÍ ECONOMY, ACL AÇAÍ WILL BE AN IMPORTANT STEP TOWARDS THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
There are those who eat it sweet, with fruit. There are those who eat it traditionally, with tapioca flour. But Brazilians know one thing for sure: açaí is loved in all four corners of the country. And the world!
Today, it is one of the Amazonian inputs that is gaining the most ground on the national and international markets. It is of enormous importance to traditional Amazonian populations, as many of them work with the extraction, sale and export of the fruit.
More than 90% of the production market in this chain is concentrated in the Amazon region, which distributes the input to the other regions of the country, as well as to other countries. Research into this LCA model has not yet begun. However, we already know the potential of Açaí.
ACL Açaí in practice
The ACL Açaí Laboratory will follow the standards of the other Amazonia 4.0 Institute, with:

- Co-created with communities
- Distributed and decentralized hubs
- Itinerant Structures
- Environmentally responsible equipment
The economic survival of many traditional populations is centered on the production of açaí. Hence the importance of the ACL for this production chain. The local communities themselves will be able to drive the main cycles of the value chain for this input, in activities ranging from harvesting to the product ready for export and consumption.
The açaí chain – according to IBGE/PAM 2022 (reference year 2021) – generates more than R$5.2 billion annually in the economy of the northern region of the country as a raw material. The aim of ACL AÇAÍ is to build and develop an economy that brings benefits and ecological conservation to açaí palm trees, supporting community businesses, expanding income generation in a more inclusive way and with products with high added value, for food, nutraceutical and cosmetic purposes.
