“A new paradigm, a new way of seeing the value of the forest.” | Article in iDesign Magazine
‘THE POWER OF THE LIVING FOREST’ ARTICLE PUBLISHED BY IDESIGN MAGAZINE DETAILING THE INNOVATION DEVELOPED BY AMAZONIA 4.0 AS A RESPONSE TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL COLLAPSE IN THE AMAZON.
In its 10th volume, iDesign magazine features a section dedicated to showcasing projects that provide experiences and seek solutions to pressing environmental and social issues in contemporary societies, such as the Amazon 4.0 Institute.
The article produced by the magazine mentions the project of implementing the Creative Labs (ACL) in the Amazon. iDesign highlights scientific data emphasizing that environmental degradation can cause irreversible damage. In a conversation with the iDesign team, the executive director of the institute, Ismael Nobre, reaffirmed:
“The more science delves deeper into the interrelationships between the forest, the atmosphere and the interdependence of all living things, the more we see we were heading towards a collapse.” (iDesign Magazine – 2023)
Faced with this catastrophic scenario, Ismael Nobre pointed out that, with the creation of the Amazonia 4.0 Institute, the proposal was to think of something different that would respond to the ‘civilizational anguish’ of losing the Amazon rainforest. The Amazon Creative Labs (ACL’s) have emerged as an alternative that combines production and conservation.

The magazine also highlights that the modern design developed by the Marko Brajovic studio seeks to overcome challenges in infrastructure, energy and training, by bringing a futuristic and ancestral concept inspired by indigenous villages, making it easier for ACLs to move around the Amazon.
Finally, the article says that in addition to economic development, one of the objectives of Amazonia 4.0 is to ensure that the values, cultural aspects, identity and management processes of the community members can be transmitted through the products they produce.

The future is now, and the ‘Power is in the Forest’, with the Amazon Creative Labs (ACL’s), cutting-edge technologies will add value to Amazonian products, reversing the valuation currently based on an outdated production model that only provides raw materials.
